03/19/2015 While speaking at The City Club in Cleveland yesterday, President Obama spoke about his desire for mandatory voting in the US. “In Australia, and some other countries, there’s mandatory voting. It would be transformative if everybody voted. That would counteract money more than anything”, Obama said during a question and answer session on campaign finance reform. He went on to say, “If everybody voted, then it would completely change the political map in this country.” Wow! Get ready for your purple finger America! “The people who tend not to vote are young, they’re lower income, they’re skewed more heavily towards immigrant groups and minority groups,” he said. (Umm…in case you didn't catch it, he is basically saying democrat voters.) “They are often the folks who are scratching and climbing to get into the middle-class. They’re working hard. There’s a reason why some folks try to keep them away from the polls,” Obama added. He said this would be better, at least in the short term. In the short term? What the heck does that mean? Is that like National subsidized healthcare is better until we can get to Universal single payer healthcare? I was actually very encouraged to hear him say this publicly. Not because I think we should be stripped of our first amendment rights of course. This is a totally ridiculous and unconstitutional suggestion. I was encourage because it tells me he is worried that his plan to change the political map, “project import the vote” may be sinking. We should have seen this coming when he said the landslide midterm democrat defeat was due to lack of voter participation and then marched on seemingly oblivious to the Republican mandate. With every freedom that he proposes to take from the American citizenry, I wonder if he understands the concept of liberty, personal responsibility and individualism. Could his extreme ideology be the result of manipulation by his life time of radical associations and mentors? Does he have “Daddy issues”? Is he going through mid-life crisis? Or are some people born with specific character traits that make them incapable of understanding our basic human desire for freedom? He is obviously working tirelessly to transform our two party system into a democrat monopoly which would disenfranchise over 50% of the American electorate. Why is it exactly that this Progressive (Marxist leaning) party feel they need to manage everyone’s lives and mandate or restrict our daily functions? Obamacare has been a disastrous Government intrusion and takeover of one of the most personal areas of our life. I thought there was no other area in which they could be more meddlesome, or encumbering. I was wrong. Now they want to regulate my shower! At what point did the government determine they could move forward on a plan to limit a free people to a 7 minute shower? My long shower is very important to me, it is my stress relief and where I find my balance. I don’t even have the conditioner applied in 7 minutes. The Washington Free Beacon reports the EPA even directs you to a website to instruct you how to correctly take a shower! Thank God I checked it out. As it turns out, taking a shower is not part of my skill set. I have been doing it wrong for 53 years. Fortunately I haven’t been injured! It's back to the bathtub with rubber ducky for me. At least until I can get signed up for on-line “shower techniques 101” class! I don’t know about you but this is one of those issues that makes me want to turn ever faucet inside and outside of the house to full power, run the dishwasher on the “heavily soiled with power wash” cycle, the washing machine with an extra rinse cycle and drain and refill the pool! So the frustration continues to mount as our “scandal-a-day” President uses his "moral authority" to mandate what we should and should not do, relieving us of that gruesome burden of making a decision for ourselves. I do wonder what would happen if you were opposed to all the candidates on the ballot. I suppose paying a fine is better than voting against your conscience. It could be worse you know, he could be pushing to eliminate the vote altogether. At least he said “voting” should be mandatory instead of “voting democrat” should be mandatory, though I felt it was inferred.
